About Dave Ellis (Updated June 21, 2006) Background and ExperienceDave Ellis is an accomplished sports dietitian and President of Sports Alliance Inc., which provides nutrition consulting services to athletics and the food industry. Dave has earned a reputation as a pioneer in the field of applied sports nutrition and is currently celebrating his 25th year of practice in athletics. In addition to being a Registered Dietitian (RD), Dave is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a Master Level V (highest level) USA Hockey Certified Coach. He currently provides sports nutrition services to approximately 24 teams and about as many individual athletes in sports ranging from the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL to NASCAR, professional tennis and golf, and ice skating. Dave initially produced a pair of DVDs (Fundamental and Advanced Fueling Tactics®) to help his clients remain focused on the key drivers that comprise his 3-step "food-first" feeding system, but made them available June 21, 2006 for all athletes (one hour Fundamental version) and teachers (two-hour Advanced version). Dave authors a column for USA Hockey Magazine (six times annually) and is a "preferred provider of nutrition and body composition services" to USA Hockey. Dave also chairs the Nutrition, Metabolism & Body Composition Special Interest Group of the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and sits on the Professional Baseball Strength & Conditioning Coaches Society (PBSCCS) Advisory Board. Since starting his private practice (Sports Alliance Inc.) in 2001, Dave now mentors many of the leading practitioners in sports nutrition while working with a distinguished list of U.S. Olympic, professional and collegiate athletes and coaches. Dave has shared in the success of three NCAA Football Championships (at the University of Nebraska 1994, 1995 and 1997) and one Super Bowl Champion (New England 2005). As a director of performance nutrition support services at the collegiate level (20 years combined between the Universities of Nebraska and Wisconsin), Dave orchestrated the most highly evolved performance nutrition and body composition support service models in the country. Dave grew up in Omaha, Neb. playing hockey and baseball. He remains a competitive senior hockey player and actively coaches youth hockey. Dave resides in Colorado Springs with his wife of 19 years (Delynn) and three children. |
